Ambassador since 2015
Pantherophis guttata
- Stumpy was rescued from an unsafe situation by Mr. Hancock, a friend of Hickory Knolls. Her tail had been crushed and, over time, healed into the stump you see today. She came to the nature center in 2015.
- Another name for cornsnake is red ratsnake. Many wild cornsnakes do indeed have a reddish hue, but cornsnakes bred in captivity display a wide range of colors.
- Cornsnakes are known for their docile nature. All four Hickory Knolls corns are used widely in education programming, which includes school groups, scout groups, summer camps and birthday parties.
